CooVar MDF Primer

Coo-Var MDF Primer is a white water based primer for MDF surfaces such as furniture, frames and doors.

What is MDF primer?

MDF primer is a type of primer specifically formulated to seal and prepare MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) surfaces for painting. It helps to create a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and finish.

Why do I need to use a primer on MDF?

MDF is very porous and can absorb paint unevenly, leading to a blotchy finish. Using a primer seals the surface, preventing paint absorption and providing a smooth, uniform base for topcoats.

How do I apply MDF primer?

  1. Surface preparation: Sand the MDF surface lightly to remove any rough spots and dust it off thoroughly.
  2. Application: Apply the primer with a brush. Make sure to cover all edges and surfaces evenly.
  3. Drying: Allow the primer to dry completely, following the manufacturer's recommended drying time.
  4. Sanding: Lightly sand the primed surface with fine-grit sandpaper to remove any raised fibers and achieve a smooth finish.
  5. Cleaning: Remove all sanding dust before applying the topcoat.
